Pre-Primary Ballet

Information for boys & girls over 6 years

Please note: if you are enquiring for more than one child, you will need to complete and submit separate forms for each child.

Pre-Primary ballet classes are for children from approximately 6 or 7 years, depending on their development and experience.image6

Children learn basic classical technique needed for their first ballet examination. Our students have the opportunity to enter ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) class examinations.  The teacher accompanies a group of three or four children into the examination for support and reassurance, but is not permitted to join in or lead the children in any way.  The children must have a complete knowledge of the steps and exercises, and be able to recall them from memory.

The classes focus on musical timing, turnout, extension of the feet and legs, posture, placement and developing a sense of performance. Children progress through to Pre-Primary 2 to consolidate their learning and prepare for their examination.

For some Pre-Primary ballet classes, it is compulsory to learn another genre of dance alongside.  Please refer to the ‘Class Times’ bar below to view linked classes.
