Shows & Performances

On 8th April SLDS held it’s 2017 show at the Langley Park Performing Arts Theatre. Divided into two acts, Act I  ‘Inside Out’ followed the themes and ideas of the  featured in the film, and Act II was a new ballet for children based on Neil Gaiman’s novel, ‘Coraline’, created by Miss Zoe, composed by Stuart Rush and choreographed by Miss Rosie – it was spectacular!

Both Acts of the show shared the common theme of the trials and tribulations of being a ‘tweenager’, although viewed through the eyes of two contrasting characters and presented in different ways . . .In Act I (‘Inside Out’), we saw how Lucy’s emotional experiences are shaping her into a young adult and forming her outlook on life. In Act II, we saw Coraline overcome her frustrations and fears to develop the strength of character she will need as she becomes a teenager, and see her realise that life isn’t always greener on the other side.

South London Dance Studios present full-scale performances every 3-4 years, with a ‘Presentation of Class Work’ in the interim years. Rehearsals are in addition to regular classes and therefore require extra commitment from parent / guardian and child.
