Dance Shows and Performances
South London Dance School presents a full-scale dance show biannually towards the end of the summer term, with a smaller performance focused on student choreography in the alternate years.
Our most recent full-scale performance was on 8th April 2017 at the Langley Park Performing Arts Theatre in Beckenham. Divided into two acts, Act I ‘Inside Out’ followed the themes and ideas of the feature film, and Act II was a new ballet for children based on Neil Gaiman’s novel, ‘Coraline’, created by Miss Zoe, composed by Stuart Rush and choreographed by Miss Rosie – it was spectacular!
Both Acts of the show shared the common theme of the trials and tribulations of being a ‘tweenager’, although viewed through the eyes of two contrasting characters and presented in very different ways . . .
In Act I (‘Inside Out’), we saw how Lucy’s emotional experiences are shaping her into a young adult and forming her outlook on life.
In Act II, we saw Coraline overcome her frustrations and fears to develop the strength of character she will need as she becomes a teenager, and see her realise that life isn’t always greener on the other side.
Our next full-scale performance is planned for summer term 2020, so watch this space for more details . . .
We look forward to your child participating in our upcoming Dance Shows and Performances.
