Tap Dancing
Age range: boys and girls 5 years to adult
Tap is introduced at Preparatory level (age 5 to 6 years) to develop a basic understanding of rhythm and timing – see Preparatory Dance and Tap.
Classes continue at Pre-Primary Tap (age 6 to 7 years), then Primary Tap (age 7 to 9 years). Tap is learnt alongside Modern Dancing at Primary and Grade 1 levels.
Then, to reach their potential in tap, it is essential that children in Grade 2 Tap and upwards also learn Modern (and Street / Jazz) and / or Ballet and National in order to develop the necessary strength, coordination and understanding of line. See Tap Grade Classes.
We also offer tap dancing classes for adults – see Adult Dance Classes.
