South London Dance School Examinations

Children can be entered into ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) examinations throughout their training as long as they are attending all the recommended classes.  We hold an annual examination session at our studios towards the end of the spring term.  The teacher decides when a child is ready to take an examination and we politely ask that parents / guardians respect this decision as it is always for the benefit of the child. 

When a child is offered an examination, we recommend that they do enter and ask that parents are supportive of the requirement for extra lessons prior to the examination. Examinations are a good consolidation of class work, encourage focus and commitment, and promote a sense of achievement.

Our examination session results are always outstanding, thanks to our wonderful teachers who prepare the children so thoroughly and our fantastic examinations administrator who organises our huge examination sessions.  We are very proud of the fantastic results our students achieved.

Our next ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) is pencilled for Sunday 22nd to Friday 27th March 2026 with additional Sunday practices throughout the spring term, starting on Sunday 18th January.
