At around age 7 or 8, boys move from Junior Funky Moves into Boys Street (I) and Grade 1 Modern to further improve their dance skills and to start learning basic dance technique. It is compulsory to learn both modern and street together. Also, we recommend that boys also learn Primary Tap at this level for development of rhythm.
After taking their Grade 1 Modern examination or alternatively when they are ready, boys move on into Boys Street (II) and Grade 2 Modern classes.
Our Boys Street (I) and (II) classes introduce a range of up to date dance styles with a focus on street and commercial. The classes improve boys’ strength and flexibility, confidence in performing and their ability to learn new styles and routines.
Whilst the Street (I) and (II) are boys only classes, our Modern classes are usually for boys and girls until the higher grades. Additionally, boys can attend our joint boys and girls ballet and tap classes.
